Promoter Oscar De La Hoya stood by his fighter Lucas Matthysee (27-1, 25 KOs) of Argentina after his narrow loss to former multi-divisonal champion to Zab Judah (40-6, 27 KOs) last month. De La Hoya spoke on the phone with Marcelo Gonzalez (media advisor of Arano Box Argentina), who in turn relayed the phone conversation to Fightnews. De La Hoya stated “I would like to see him back in the ring in the not to distant future against a solid test like former world champion Demarcus “Chop Chop” Corley.” The 28 year old Matthysee will now meet Corley in Mendoza, Argentina January 21st in a 10 round junior welterweight main event. The fight will take place in the auditorium Angel Bustelo. The 36 year old Corley (36-15-1, 22 KOs) gave then WBA super lightweight interim champion Marcos Maidana all he could handle in losing a very competitive decision this past August. The Matthysee-Corley bout will air on HBO Plus in Latin America and Telefutura in the U.S.
