Matthysse arrives in the USA

Looks like we have a fight. After missing yesterday’s press conference in New York City, WBC interim super lightweight champion Lucas Matthysse (33-2, 31 KOs) and his team have finally arrived in the USA and made their appearance in the press room at Caesars Atlantic City. Matthysse was held up several days in his native Argentina due to problems with his travel documents. His fight with IBF jr welterweight champion Lamont Peterson (31-1-1, 16 KOs) will be a non-title affair at a catch weight of 141, rather than a unification fight because the IBF doesn’t allow unifications with interim champions and Matthysse wouldn’t give up his WBC interim title.

The weigh-in for Saturday’s fight card at Boardwalk Hall will be open to the public and take place at 3:30PM in the Caesars Atlantic City lobby.
