Hard punching welterweight champion Steve Maxwell (8-4, 6 KOs) will return to ring action on Friday when he will clash with Alex Ahtong (4-8-2, 3 KOs) over twelve rounds at the Tattersalls Function Center in Glenorchy, Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. In 2009 Maxwell stopped former Australian champion Mathew Paulley in two rounds and in 2010 he scored impressive fourth round knockout over Heath Ellis. Ahtong scored a second round knockout over Casey Hannan in 2009 and in 2010 extended Tui Leveni losing via a split eight round technical decision. Ahtong is trained by former Australian amateur champion Dave Birchell who also trains world rated super middleweight Sakio Bika and world rated junior middleweight Ryan Waters. Maxwell is guided by Adrian Lovell. Promoter is Adrian Lovell.
