Maysonet destroys Gil

Guayama, Puerto Rico – Unbeaten lightweight sensation Jorge ‘Machito’ Maysonet (10-0, 9 KOs) won his most impressive victory to date when he stopped Ramesis Gil (9-4-5, 5 KOs) in the very first round on Friday night at the Coliseo Roque Nido Stella in Guayama, Puerto Rico. After knocking down Gil three times, the referee stopped the fight. The official time was 1:32.

In the co-feature, Edgardo Laboy (5-0, 2 KOs) was victorious over Jonell Nieves (4-1, 3 KOs) in a four round junior featherweight fight. This fight could had been fought in a phone booth. First two rounds witness both fighters trading punches in close disregarding defense. Laboy got the better of the exchanges. The final two rounds also belonged to Laboy as he out maneuvered Nieves in just about every department including toughness. The scores were 39-37, and 40-36 twice.

All Miguel Marrero (7-0, 4 KOs) needed was one minute, ten seconds to put away Leroy Padilla (6-3-1, 5 KOs) in the opening round. Marrero landed a swift left hook that left Padilla on the floor for a few minutes.

Undercard Steven Martinez (13-1, 10 KOs) defeated Edgard Perez (5-1, 3 KOs) in an exciting six round middleweight fight. Martinez fought behind the jab that set up left hooks. Perez had his moment in round four when he delivered a hard bodyshot that caused Martinez to hold on for the rest of the round. All three judges saw it 59-55.

Emmanuel ‘Pirata’ De Jesus (2-0, 2 KOs) needed just 43 seconds to put away Eduardo Adorno (2-18-1, 1 KOs) in a scheduled fourth round junior middleweight bout. The uppercut did the job for De Jesus.

Junior bantamweight rookie Edwin ‘Puto’ Rodriguez (2-0, 2 KOs) annihilated Alberto Velez (1-3) in just 36 seconds of the first round. Rodriguez cornered Velez and overwhelmed him with combinations. The referee stopped it a short time later.

Kennith Rivera (2-1, 2 KOs) recorded a TKO victory over Pedro Agosto (1-5) in the first round. After getting dropped with a right hand, Agosto got up and received more punishment until the referee put a halt to the bout. The scheduled four rounder was fought at the featherweight limit. The official time was 1:51.
