Former WBC heavyweight champion Oliver McCall (53-9, 37 KOs) won a workmanlike ten round unanimous decision over Franklin “Yah-Yah” Lawrence (12-2-2, 7 KOs) on Friday night at the Orleans Hotel & Casino, in Las Vegas. The bout was fought at a deliberate pace with Lawrence the busier of the two. The 44-year-old McCall was never able to get untracked but he picked up the pace in the last two rounds to come away with a 97-93, 96-94, 96-94 win. Many at ringside felt Lawrence did enough to win the fight, and McCall said afterward that he’s open to a rematch.
