Heavyweight Jameel McCline (41-12, 24 KOs) did not defeat 23-year-old Polish sensation Artur Szpilka (12-0, 9 KOs) losing by unanimous decision, but to the last minute of ten round fight he was more than game, stalking his faster rival in the ring. Turns out “Big Time” McCline did more than just stalking Szpilka, he broke Szpilka’s jaw in two places in the sixth round just when when the bell rang preventing the former four time heavyweight contender from ending the fight. “I tried my best, I know that I needed just seconds to finish him off, but well, give the young man a credit – he survived and won the fight,” said McCline seconds after the verdict was read in the Atlas Arena in Lodz, Poland. For Szpilka it was a test of skills and what a real heavyweight fight is. “I never fought anybody like Jameel. He is huge and hits very hard. He can also take a punch. I think that this fight meant more for my development as a fighter than all my previous fights combined,” said Szpilka, who after successful jaw surgery will be back in action probably in December.
