McCloskey set for M’baye

Unbeaten Paul McCloskey (19-0, 9 KOs) will bid to win the European light weighterweight title on home soil when he faces current Euro beltholder and former world champ Souleymane M’baye (38-3-1, 21 KOs) at the state of the art Meadowbank Sports Arena in Magherafelt, County Derry, Ireland on November 6th. “I’ve been inundated with people asking about tickets and it’s terrific to get such a big fight so close to home,” said McCloskey who vacated his British title in order to chase European and world honors. The silky skilled southpaw who lives about a 30-minute drive from the arena, had originally been scheduled to travel to Paris in July to tackle M’baye but a hand injury for McCloskey turned out to be a blessing in disguise as he secured home advantage for the rescheduled date. “It’s a huge opportunity for me and winning the European title would set me up nicely for a shot at a world title. I’m just focusing on M’baye and becoming European champion first. Once I win that then everything else will fall into place.”
