Last night at the El Paso County Coliseum, in front of just a few hundred fans, on a card promoted by Zeferino Entertainment, David Medina (22-2, 10 KOs) survived a seventh round knockdown to win a split verdict over Anthony Shuler (20-8-1, 14 KOs). Scores were 77-74 Shuler and 76-75, twice, for Medina. In the co-main, El Paso’s Abie Han (11-0, 9 KOs) cruised his way to a unanimous decision victory over Hilario Lopez (12-11, 8 KOs). Scores were 60-54 on all three cards.  Also on the card: El Paso’s Cesar Valenzuela (5-0) won a unanimous decision over Las Cruces’ Lorenzo Estrada (3-17-11, 1 KO); and Oscar Valenzuela (2-0) won by fourth round TKO over debuter Joaquin Abilla (0-1).

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
