Meehan-Walker clash March 7

IBF #8 Kali “Checkmate” Meehan (38-4, 31 KOs) will clash with American heavyweight KO artist, Travis “Freight Train” Walker (38-7-1, 30 KOs) on March 7, over twelve rounds, at the Derwent Entertainment Centre in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. Meehan is coming off a sensational knockout in round one over Australian heavyweight champion Michael Kirby last June, 2011. In April 2011 he stopped Valeri Semiskur in round two in Germany. In 2007 Meehan, 6’5, 240 lbs, 41 years, scored an impressive stoppage in round six of DaVarryl Williamson in Madison Square Garden.
In 2004 Meehan lost a split decision to Lamont Brewster in WBO heavyweight title bout in Las Vegas. Walker, 32 years, resides in Houston, Texas and weighs in at 250 pounds and stands 6’4.
In 2011 Walker defeated Alonzo Butler, Gabe Brown and Stacy Frazier but dropped a decision to Kubrat Pulev. Walker travelled to Australia in 2010 and was stopped four rounds by power punching Alex Leapai. Walker also lost to world heavyweight contenders, Chris Areola and Ruslan Chagaev by TKO and decision respectively.
