OPBF#2 Filipino super-feather champ Aaron Melgarejo (16-6-1, 6 KOs), 129.25, displayed a quick demolition of local lefty prospect Masato Maedo (14-3-2, 6 KOs), 129.25, at 2:18 of the opening session on Sunday in Okinawa, Japan. Melgarejo applied strong pressure to the Japanese southpaw from the start, and decked him with a solid one-two combo. He floored him again this time with a right-left combination with a towel fluttering into the ring. Unbeaten OPBF#7 Reynaldo Belandres (11-0-2, 7 KOs), 126, overwhelmed Japanese Satoshi Makino (9-5-3, 3 KOs), 125.5, in the first, but the Filipino sustained such a nasty laceration that he couldn’t go on to see a technical draw at 1:12 of the second session in a scheduled ten. Promoter: Ryukyu Promotions.
