Today in Mexico City, Fernando Beltran, president of Promociones Zanfer announced today that his company will began the year with a bang, as they will promote their first show of the year on January 30th in the Bancomer Center of Toluca with charismatic star Jorge “Travieso” going for another world championship in the main event of a show to be telecast by Fox Sports en Español in the US and by TV Azteca in Mexic. “We want to give Jorge one more chance to win a world championship before he retires. Its also a great way to start the year for our television partners,” said Fernando Beltran.

Arce (52-6-1,40 KOs) will take on Angky Angkota (24-4, 15 KOs) of Indonesia for the vacant WBO junior bantamweight crown in the main event, while Jackie “The Aztec Princess” Nava of Tijuana will seek to become the first female boxer from Mexico to win a world title in two different weight divisions when she takes on Shantel Martinez of Panama in a WBC featherweight championship bout.
“I’m very grateful to receive this opportunity to win another world title and for that I want to thank Fernando Beltran and Zanfer. If I win the championship I would like two fight two more times and retire at the end of the year. It has been a great career but like everything in life it most come to an end,” said Arce.
Arce has been a 108 pound WBO and WBC champion, 112 WBC Interim champion and a 115 pound WBA Interim champion.
“But If I lose I think that will be it. I don’t want to tarnish my name or my career by overstaying my welcome in boxing,” said Arce.
Tickets will go on sale Friday. The card is part of the new series “Top Rank Live” that will be televised by Fox Sports en Español.
