Miguel Del Valle upsets Janiel Rivera

In another exciting event of “Boxeo Boricua: WAPA 2” presented by Miguel Cotto Promotions and H2 Entertainment, previously unbeaten world title contender in the minimumweight division Janiel Rivera was upset by veteran Miguel Del Valle who won an eight round unanimous decision in a crowded Samuel Rodriguez Coliseum in Aguas Buenas.

New Puerto Rican heavyweight sensation Carlos “Chicano” Cotto (4-0, 4KOs) remain unbeaten scoring a brutal first round KO over Irvin Torres who was lying on the canvas for more than 5 minutes while recovering. “I felt strong tonight, I’m looking forward to my next fight in August and keep working hard in the gym to improve” said Chicano who won again the $500 “El Palo De La Noche” From Palo Viejo.

In other results the highly anticipated match between Kevin Nieves vs. Regino Canales ended in a 6 round unanimous decision win for Nieves who dropped down Canales with a powerful right hand in the second round. Unbeaten super bantamweight prospect Jose “Wonder Boy” Lopez stopped Irvin Hernandez in the third round improving his record to 8-0 with 6 KOs. Charlie Clemente (4-0, 2KOs) won a 4 round unanimous decision over Luis Hernandez . Alex Velazquez became pro winning by KO in round 2 over Miguel Castro and Alexander Rivera stopped Benjamin Cardoza with a strong right hand in round one.

Miguel Cotto Promotions together with Hector Soto’s H2 Entertainment will be back on August 31 with another “Boxeo Boricua: WAPA 2” that will be live broadcast from the Roger Mendoza Coliseum in Caguas.
