Mijares edges Arce

In a WBC bantamweight eliminator, former world champion Cristian Mijares (39-6-2, 17 KOs) won a controversial split decision over Francisco “Panchito” Arce (30-6-2, 21 KOs) on Saturday night at the Palenque de la Feria in Durango, Durango, Mexico. It was a foul-filled fight with Arce ahead on two cards after eight rounds. Mijares closed strong to get the split nod.
In a flyweight bout, former world title challenger Julio Cesar “Pingo” Miranda (31-5-1, 24 KOs) TKO’d Cupul Faustino (23-3, 16 KOs) in the third round.
