Mike Mollo on battling Artur Szpilka at Chicago White Sox Stadium: It’s like fighting at home

“I have goosebumps just thinking about fighting here on August 16. A historic event practically in the neighborhood where I grew up, where my family lives. I’m better today than I was when I fought Artur Szpilka (15-0, 11 KOs) for the first time in February. And we still are almost two months away from me fighting “The Pin” again,” said “Merciless” Mike Mollo (20-4, 12 KOs) when visiting US Cellular Field, home of the Chicago White Sox, where event will take place. The Szpilka-Mollo heavyweight clash and main event between IBO light heavyweight world champion, #3 WBO, #7 IBF and #10 WBC Andrzej Fonfara (23-2, 13 KOs) and former WBA world champion Gabriel Campillo (22-5, 9 KOs) will be televised in the season finale of ESPN’s “Friday Night Fight” series.

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
