“This is the most important fight of my life. No doubt, no thinking about it,” said “Merciless” Mike Mollo (20-4, 12 KOs) who for the last three weeks has been working out in Miami Beach at the famous “5th Street Gym” with trainer Dino Spencer. “Szpilka has the tools to beat Mike but knowledge is power. This time he will be stronger, hit harder and hopefully Mike will not have to look at Szpilka through blood flowing from his cuts. Mike is working harder than ever. Three times a day, starting at 5:45 AM running 3 miles and then working out, then midday sparring and ending the day after 8 PM with tough physical exercises,” said Spencer, a co-owner at the famous Angelo Dundee/Muhammad Ali training facility.
When Mollo fought Artur “The Pin” Szpilka (15-0, 11 KOs) in February, boxing fans in Chicago enjoyed a tremendous all action battle. Szpilka was knocked down twice before knocking out Mollo in the sixth round. This time, on August 16, both men will meet again under special circumstances. ESPN2 will first rebroadcast their first fight and then from US Cellular Field, home of the Chicago White Sox, boxing fans will be able to see them live going at each other again.
