Aside from a huge boxing show that will be headlined by Russia’s top unbeaten prospects Denis Lebedev (19-0, 14 KOs) and Alexander Bakhtin (24-0, 11 KOs), promoter Vladimir Hryunov plans a number of supportive cultural events to entertain the local crowd. Maybe the most interesting affair will be a specific beauty contest both to define Miss Izhevsk (Udmurt capital) 2009 and the so-called Miss WBC Russia, who will represent this country during an international contest among all WBC beauties.
Taking their parts in a charming tournament will be Miss Winter Izhevsk 2009, Miss Spring Izhevsk 2009, Miss Summer Izhevsk 2009 and, not surprisingly, Miss Autumn Izhevsk 2009. The lovely winner will receive a specifically designated crown.
The beauty of ladies will be well matched with the manliness of both boxers and the vast majority of local fans. Fueling their pride will be a specific celebration of the Defender of the Fatherland Day (Feb. 23), which is highly regarded all across the former Soviet Union. All males will be presented with personal gifts and will have a chance to greet the constructor of legendary AK-47 assault rifle Mikhail Kalashnikov (Hero of Russian Federation and Socialistic Labor) in person.
“I’m extremely delighted with the fact that various aspects of the magic influence of boxing coincide at a single place and at a certain moment of time. Manliness and beauty will be paired to form a strong coupling, as the WBC eliminator and WBC Beauty contest take their places at the same promotion. I’m also glad that two persons of such historical stature as WBC president Jose Sulaiman and legendary gunsmith Mikhail Kalashnikov will be greeted during the same show”, said Hryunov.
Nine bouts are pre-planned for a huge show at Udmurtia Circus on Feb. 22. WBO #1 cruiserweight Lebedev clashes against Mexican Ignacio Esparza (16-1, 12 KOs) in the second defense of his WBO I/C title, and WBC #2 bantamweight Bakhtin takes on rugged Kenyan Nick Otieno (20-4, 9 KOs) in the WBC semifinal eliminator.
