Middleweight Willie Monroe Jr. scored a workmanlike six round unanimous decision over Miguel Alvarez to capture the Mid-South and UBC Middleweight title at the New Daisy Theater in Memphis, Tennessee. Monroe, Jr. who is promoted by D3 Boxing had a decided speed advantage over Alvarez, who showed an iron chin. Alvarez actually received a standing ovation from the crowd for the grit that he showed during the fight. Monroe Jr. ups his record to 15-1. Alvarez is 4-9.
In a six round Welterweight bout, DeMarcus Rogers went to 2-1 with a unanimous decision over Anthony Woods (0-6).
In a four round Super Middleweight bout, Paul Gutierrez took a majority decision over Toris Smith. Gutierrez is now 5-0. Smith is 3-37.
Rounding out the card was William Johnson (10-31-2) winning a six round unanimous decision over Tyrone Dowdy (4-33) in a Cruiserweight bout. Scores were 60-54 on all cards.
