The finals of the 2014 “Boxcino” tournament took place Friday night at the Turning Stone Casino in Verona, NY.

In the lightweight final, Petr Petrov (35-4-2, 16 KOs) dominated Fernando Carcamo (17-6, 13 KOs) and got an eighth round TKO. Petrov, who challenged Marcos Maidana for the WBA super lightweight title in 2011, was in command from the opening bell, consistently outworking Carcamo who seemed sluggish. The one-sided fight was finally waved off by the referee in round eight. Time was :40.

In the middleweight final, local favorite Willie Monroe Jr. (18-1, 6 KOs) outpointed previously unbeaten Brandon Adams (14-1, 9 KOs) over ten rounds. Southpaw Monroe, the nephew of former contender Willie “The Worm” Monroe, mostly outboxed Adams from the outside, compiling a clear cut 99-91 win on all cards.
