Montiel aims to tame Little Bull

WBC/WBO bantamweight champion Fernando Montiel says Rafael “Little Bull” Concepcíon will give everything to beat him because it’s the chance of his life to be the second Panamanian to earn the gold and green belt. Montiel (42-2-2, 31 KOs) of Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico, defends against Concepcion (14-2-2, 8 KOs) in the “Top Rank Live” main event aired live in USA by Fox Sports, in Mexico by TV Azteca and the rest of the world by WBCBOXING.TV.

“I was upset about the Morel cancellation, but the fans will be the real winners because the exchange of punches [with Concepcion] will be more straight. Morel was going to run and “Little Bull” is no doubt stronger and braver. But if I am the best bantamweight in the world, I must prove it against contenders like this Panamanian,” Montiel said.

Concepcion said: “Fernando is correct, first this is my biggest chance and second I’m fighting for a victory that will change my life forever. The boxing style of Montiel matches with mine. Like all the Mexican boxers, he’s fearless, same as me.”

“I have been training two months ago with the illusion of fight against Montiel and the circumstances took me here for a reason,” he added.

The official weigh-in will be today at 1PM (Mexico time) in Tuxtla Gutierrez, Chiapas, Mexico.
