More details on Magomed Abdusalamov’s condition

By Karl Freitag

Nathan Lewkowicz, Vice President of Sampson Promotions, has updated on the condition of heavyweight contender Magomed Abdusalamov. The brave Russian warrior who went ten brutal rounds against Mike Perez Saturday night in front of a packed house at Madison Square Garden and a worldwide TV audience on HBO, is still in ICU at Roosevelt Hospital and remains in stable condition. According to Lewkowicz, Abdusalamov had part of his skull removed to reduce swelling.

Ken Hershman, President of HBO Sports, issued the following statement: “The thoughts and prayers of all of us at HBO Sports are with Magomed Abdusalamov. We are grateful for the medical care he is receiving here in New York City and out of respect for Magomed and his family, we will wait for any official updates on his condition before making any further statements.”

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.
