Moreno honored by Prez!

After defending his WBA bantamweight title for the fourth time, Panamanian Anselmo “Chemito” Moreno was honored by President Ricardo Martinelli Berrocal. Moreno defeated former champion Mahyar Monshipur in France on Saturday July 4th, achieving the first Panamanian sports victory under the new government headed by Mr. Martinelli, who started his 5 years period 3 days before the fight.
“Chemito” attended the presidential invitation accompanied by his grandmother, wife, son, trainer Carlos Harry and promoter Hector Villarreal.

At the presidential house, Martinelli spoke about the great athletic performance of Moreno and named him “Sports Ambassador” for being a role model for young Panamanians.

Also present at the ceremony were vice president Juan Varela, Director of Panama’s Sport Institute and former Major League Baseball player, Omar Moreno.
