The WBA has declared that bantamweight “super” champion Anselmo “Chemito” Moreno to be champion in recess. This allows him to fight, but not defend the WBA world title. The champion in recess status will be lifted when the problems are resolved with his manager Roberto Grimaldo. Grimaldo and Moreno are embroiled in a legal battle for the validity of their contract. Moreno, who recently signed a promotional contract with Golden Boy Promotions had announced that he is prepared to “defend his crown” against Eric Morel to November 5 in the United States.
