Future Hall of Famer Shane Mosley has expressed confidence in not only defeating Anthony Mundine, but that it will be by knockout when the two former world champs clash at the Sydney Entertainment Center on October 23. Mosley also rejects the claims that he is a washed up boxer who should not be fighting. “Anyone who says I’m shot, they have no idea what’s going on,” Mosley said. “I speak regularly with a whole number of doctors, specialists, all these medical experts who insist my brain is fine. That I’m in better shape than a lot of guys in their 20s.”
“People making these claims, they aren’t in the mix of things. You come over and ask my doctors if I’m shot, ask boxing people in the US if I’m shot and they’ll look at you like you’re crazy.
“I know Anthony Mundine is expecting to fight a shell of Sugar Shane. But I can tell you I’m still 90% of the fighter that won world titles. I’m coming Down Under to win. And win by knockout.”
Mosley continued: “Look, Anthony wants to use me for recognition in America and I’m using him as a warm up to my next fight. Obviously, the payday helps. I was offered $200,000 to fight Victor Ortiz or $1 million for Mundine. I took the million. And while I wouldn’t say it’s an easy earn, it’s easy in that fighting is what I love. Floyd, Manny, Juan Manuel Marquez – they’re the fights I want. And to fight without injury.
“First time around against Mayweather, everyone was saying ‘oh, Shane doesn’t have the legs’. No, because I did my Achillies, did my groin . . . I’m sure one of the reasons Anthony wants to fight me is because he thinks I can’t move anymore. That’s his problem.”
