Mosley-Mundine kickoff press conference

By Ray Wheatley — World of Boxing

Former WBA super middleweight champion Anthony Mundine and future Hall of Famer. Shane Mosley appeared at a press conference today to officially kickoff their October 23 clash at the Sydney Entertainment Centre in Sydney, Australia. Both fighters expressed confidence and expressed that they hope this fight will lead to a Floyd Mayweather fight. The 42-year-old Mosley was lured to Australia with a $1 million purse.

Anthony Mundine: I don’t think I am just going to beat Mosley and fight Floyd, but this is going to pave the way to fight Floyd. Maybe I’ll get Alvarez next, maybe I’ll get Cotto next, that’s the mentality I’m thinking. Maybe Floyd will come at me and say, ‘I’ll give Mundine a go.’ We don’t know. I want to fight the best fighters in the world at this weight and Mosley is one of the best fighters, but there comes a price with that. If you don’t get the job done then, really, you have to step out. That is how important this fight is. You may as well call it a day then, so it is kill or be killed. That is the mentality.

Shane Mosley: Mundine will retire after this fight because I’m definitely going to beat him. I’m injury-free, that’s what’s important and people are going to see the old Shane, the old Sugar Shane back in the day, top of fighting. And the one you saw when I fought Pacquiao and Mayweather…I’m ready. I definitely want a rematch.

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.
