The Majestic Theatre on Friday, May 1 will be the venue for a program of eight scheduled pro fights presented by Carlos Llinas International Productions (CLIP) and Ron Remus Productions. Already running highly successful shows at the suburban Royal Oak Music Theatre, the promoters are planning on also using the downtown Detroit’s Majestic to run cards on alternate months giving fight fans in the Motor City a regular monthly series of shows.
Featured in the six round main event will be heavyweight knockout artist Rich “Super” Power as he seeks to maintain his undefeated all KO win streak alive against an opponent TBD. Also on the card will be crowd favorite Andres Gorges vs Matt Ellis. Heavyweight Ali Mansour will take on John Smith. Johathan Jackson and Demetrius Robinson will also see action and locals Roscoe Hill and Willie Fortune will be making their pro debuts.
The Majestic Theatre is located at 4120 Woodward, Detroit. Tickets are $25, $30, $50 and available at www.ticketmaster.com or through the Majestic box office at 313-833-9700.
Fightnews was also informed by promoter Carlos Llinas that plans are underway for the ring return of junior welterweight prospect Vernon Paris in October. Paris, currently serving suspension for two failed drug tests, is undefeated at 16-0 with 3 NC’s and has not fought since February of 2008. Young Paris has the skills and ring presence to contend for a title if he can put his personal issues behind him. Detroit fight fans are looking forward to welcoming the “Ice Man” back.
