Mundine goes the distance to beat Jackson

By Ray Wheatley — World of Boxing

Former WBA super middleweight champion Anthony “The Man” Mundine (45-5, 27 KOs) outclassed little known New Zealander Gunnar Jackson (18-4-3, 6 KOs) over ten rounds on Wednesday night at the Entertainment Centre in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. Jackson had some good moments, but Mundine dealt out most of the punishment although he was unable to stop the tough Kiwi. Scores were 100-90, 100-90, 100-90.

The bout took place at a 74 kilo (163.1 lb) catchweight. Mundine was originally slated to face Carson Jones. Jackson stepped in on seven days notice.

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
