IBF middleweight champion Daniel “Real Deal” Geale has been insulted by former WBA super middleweight champion Anthony “The Man” Mundine when Mundine made derogatory remarks about the Tasmanian-born, IBF 160 pound champion’s Aboriginal heritage. Mundine said “I thought they wiped all the Aborigines from Tasmania out. I don’t see him representing black people.”
Geale responded by saying, “Mundine went too far. I sort of never realised it at the time,” he said. “Sometimes when he’s speaking I sort of zone out a little bit. I don’t take much notice because of the usual stuff that comes out of his mouth. Afterwards, the backlash that sort of come about surprised me a little. I guess looking back on it I realise now that he did take it too far. Insulting my heritage, the people from Tasmania, is not the right thing to do. The guy definitely doesn’t think before he talks.”
Geale supporters are confident the champion will make Mundine pay for the comments on January 30 at the Sydney Entertainment Centre, Sydney, NSW, Australia which is predicted to be a sellout with an attendance of 12,000 fans that could break pay-per-view records. Televised throughout Australia on Fox Main Event Pay-Per-View.
