Former WBA super middleweight champion Anthony Mundine (38-3, 23 KOs) will return to ring action at jr middleweight poundage on June 30 against Carlos Adan Jerez (30-12-3, 16 KOs) over twelve rounds at the Brisbane Entertainment Center, Queensland, Australia. Jerez, of Argentina, normally campaigns in the welterweight division but will step up to 154 pounds for the opportunity to box Mundine.
Jerez lost in his last start to 35 year old southpaw Leonard Bundu by technical decision in five rounds in Florence, Italy, but he stopped formerly world-rated Javier Mamani in four rounds in 2009. Mundine was extended over twelve against Robert Medley in his most recent contest in 2010 and in 2009 most boxing writers at ringside had Daniel Geale ahead although the official judges favored Mundine. Promoter Tony Mundine. Televised throughout Australia on Main Event Pay-Per-View Television.
