Muriqi beats Garashchenko!

By Liridon Iberdemaj

New York-based IBF #15 Elvir Kosova Kid Muriqi (36-5, 17 KOs) won a ten round unanimous decision over Oleksandr Garashchenko (15-12, 7 KOs) on Sunday night at the Palace of Youth & Sports in Prishtina, Kosovo. Muriqi outworked his opponent in almost every single round. It was a sweet revenge for Muriqi in front of his 2,000 fanatic supporters. He had lost a fight against the same Ukrainian boxer in 2005. That time the bout ended with a split decision for Garashchenko.

In the co-main event of the evening, Shpetim “Albanian Bomber” Shala (6-0, 2 KOs) won a 10 round unanimous decision against Lars Buchholz (10-3, 5 KOs) to pick up the Austrian International light heavyweight title belt. Scores were 97-94, 98-94, 97-93.

Swiss-based Albanian cruiserweight Sefer Seferi (7-0, 6 KOs ) continued his winning streak with a TKO in the fifth round over Ivica Cukusic (7-63-4) of Croatia. After the end of fourth round Cukusic decided to withdrew. With this Seferi collected his 6th KO victory.

Croatian welterweight Zoran Cvek (4-7-2, 3 KOs) scored a third round TKO over Erjon Zeka (6-2, 1 KO) from Albania.

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
