Narvaez-Montes in the works

By Gabriel F. Cordero

A source confirmed the possibility that WBO super flyweight world champion Omar Narvaez (36-1-2, 19 KOs) could defend his crown against former WBF beltholder Juan Jose “Goofy” Montes (22-2 1, 14 KOs) on October 17th at Luna Park in Buenos Aires, Argentina. According to the source, the fight is not a done deal, but both camps OR Promotions (Narvaez) and Promociones del Pueblo (Montes) are very interested in putting the bout together. Meanwhile, Montes is already scheduled for a rematch against Oscar “Ceviche” Ibarra next month.

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
