Narvaez retains WBO superfly belt against Hisataka

WBO super flyweight champion Omar Narvaez (41-1-2, 21 KOs) retained his 115lb title for the eighth time with an easy tenth round TKO against Japan’s Hiroyuki Hisataka (22-11-1, 10 KOs) on Saturday night at the Gimnasio Municipal No. 1 in Trelew, Chubut, Argentina. The one-sided affair was waved off in the tenth round to save Hisataka from further punishment. This was strictly a showcase fight for the 38-year-old champion, who was fighting in his native Trelew for the first time since 2007. Hisataka has now come up short in four world title challenges.

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
