Narvaez stops Carmona in seven to retain WBO 115lb title for ninth time

WBO super flyweight champion Omar Narvaez (41-1-2, 22 KOs) retained his 115lb title for the ninth time against Mexican challenger David Carmona (16-2-4, 8 KOs) on Saturday night at the Villa La Nata Sporting Club in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Carmona spent much of the fight backpedaling, so Narvaez was mostly the aggressor and controlled the fight. Narvaez finally dropped Carmona with a body shot in round six. Carmona struggled to beat the count, but finished the round. Carmona’s corner threw in the towel in the seventh after Narvaez continued to punish their fighter.

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
