IBO welterweight champion Lovemore Ndou has responded to comments that former world champion Ricky Hatton made when he visited Australia as a guest of the Grange Gym and stated on Australian television that Ndou is on his short list of possible opponents to fight in 2010. Ndou says that he is happy to not only fighting Ricky Hatton but would be happy to give his brother Mathew a rematch but not in England.

“I will be happy to take on Ricky Hatton at any given day,” said Ndou. “He was recently in Australia and told the Australian media that he does not rule out taking me on as an opponent should he decide to make a comeback next year. He also mentioned that he would also like to get a rematch for his brother, Matthew. Well I already said in the past and will say it again, I am open for a rematch with Matthew but I’m not going back to England to fight him. If he seriously needs a rematch he will have to come to me this time.”

“Either South Africa or Australia. We have TV dates available in both countries for February and March. His people have my promoter’s (Rodney Berman) number and he will be happy to do this fight.

“If Ricky wants me to beat up on his brother again before I take him on I will be more than happy to do that. I beat him easy before with 5 weeks of no sparring due to a cut eye I sustained during training. Imagine what I will do to that donkey with sufficient sparring.

“As for Ricky I think he needs to start training first and see what weight class he can drop down to before he even thinks about a future opponent. He is carrying so much weight and looks like a little toad and I doubt if he will ever make junior welterweight again. And if he does make the weight it will affect him one way or another.

“And I would also like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a very merry Christmas and happy new year. Christmas is a family get-together-time. So let’s all enjoy this festive season with our loved ones but also remember to stay safe as a lot of bad things also happen during this time of the year. Lets all be careful out there and most of all DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE. God bless all.”

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
