6’6 heavyweight Carlos Negron (14-1, 10 KOs), who hasn’t fought since February 2012, has parted ways with manager Orlando Pineiro and his contract with PR Best Boxing Promotions ended February 24 according to Negron’s father Jose À. Negron. “The contract with Pineiro ended. He gave us the release at the end of February. Pineiro and his lawyer were very good to us. We are a free agent. The Best PR contract ended February 24, so we have no commitments. Carlos is a free agent and is ready to fight,” the senior Negron.
Negron, a former Olympian, suffered a painful defeat by knockout in three rounds against Colombian Epifanio Mendoza in September of 2011, losing his undefeated record and reappeared in 2012 knocking out Francisco Mireles, but thereafter remained inactive. Has father says Team Negron is still attempting to collect on the third part of a bonus owed by PR Best.
