By Jeff White at ringside/Memphisboxing.com

Prize Fight Boxing kicked off 2010 on Saturday night at the Fitz Casino in Tunica, Mississippi, with a five card bout before an always boisterous crowd. The scheduled eight round main event featured middleweights Jonathan Nelson (13-0, 6 KOs) vs Clarence “Sonny Bono” Taylor (14-23-4, 7 KOs). The fight started with light action, with Nelson getting the slight edge. Nelson was seemingly the more polished fighter but Taylor’s experience proved valuable as he knocked down Nelson in the third and picked his spots throughout the bout. Midway through the fourth Nelson took control, landing on several good combos when he got Taylor in the ropes. However, he seemed to lack the ability to finish up and capitalize on the advantage from the combos. But despite the hesitation from Nelson, he dominated the fight and won by unanimous decision. For 18 years, Fightnews.com® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.
