Last night I caught up on the first two episodes of NUVOtv’s boxing reality series “Knockout,” starring trainers Floyd Mayweather Sr., Ruben Guerrero and Yoel Judah. A brief synopsis: In episode one, the cast of nine boxers were introduced. In episode two, the three trainers chose their respective teams, which consist of one fighter in each of the 140, 147 and 154 pound weight divisions.

Among the boxers, by far the best known is former world champion and famous PPV foil Ricardo Mayorga (29-8, 23 KOs). The others are Dennis “Momma’s Boy” Douglin (15-3, 8 KOs), Marc Salser (15-1, 9 KOs), Said Quali (29-4, 23 KOs), Steve Upsher Chambers (24-3-1, 6 KOs), Jose Angel Rodriguez (17-3-1, 2 KOs), Martin Wright (11-1-2, 5 KOs), Juanito Garcia (19-3, 8 KOs) and Tim Coleman (19-4, 5 KOs).

The show will evolve into an elimination style tournament with the winners ultimately facing a top 20 contender. One of the storylines is a feud between Mayweather Sr. and Guerrero. Matchmaker Rick Glaser also plays a prominent role.

Knockout airs Wednesday nights at 10PM.

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.
