After a strategic re-shuffling, Antonio Lozada Sr.’s Baja Boxing has rescheduled their multi-bout fight card originally slated for July 17th to Saturday, July 24th. The venue for the night remains the same, El Foro Threatre located upon the historic Revolucion Ave. in the heard of Tijuana, MX. “This new date is better for us and or the television channel (Televisa),” Lozada Sr. stated. “It gives our fighters one more week of training and it gives us one more week of promotion.”
In the main event, jr. welterweight WBC FECARBOX champion Antonio “Cañitas” Lozada Jr. (22-0, 19KOs) will defend his newly acquired title against the always tough Rodrigo Juarez (15-11-1, 11KOs), both of Tijuana.
The bout has become a much anticipated one since Juarez is considered Lozada’s first true test. Juarez is coming off a controversial loss to Omar Chavez, the youngest fighting son of Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. while Lozada Jr. toppled Colombia’s Henry Aurad for the FECARBOX strap. Both bouts were broadcast nationally in Mexico by Televisa.
Also defending his FECARBOX title but this time in the bantamweight division, Tijuana favorite David “Morita” De La Mora (20-0, 14KOs) will defend the belt and his perfect record against Elvis Garcia (9-6-3, 5KOs) of Colombia. Disputing the vacant WBC FECARBOX super featherweight title will be Marvin “Cachorro” Quintero (19-2, 15KOs) of Tijuana and Colombian KO artist Orlen Padilla (14-3-1, 13KOs) while Alain “Konan” Hernandez (17-7-2, 10KOs) will face off against Ensenada, MX’s Antonio “Bazooka” Cervantes (18-5-5, 12KOs) for the lightweight version of the same sanctioning body.
Seven more fights will flesh out the card. Tickets are available at the El Foro Theatre box office located a mere five minute taxi ride from the San Diego-Tijuana border.
