Puerto Rican referee Luis Pabon will replace Panamanian referee Guillermo Perez Pineda in Saturday’s clash for the WBA interim bantamweight title between Venezuelan Nehomar Cermeño and the Mexican Cristian Mijares. The fight will take place in Torreon, Cohauila, Mexico and be promoted by by The business KO Entertainment. The Mijares camp protested to the WBA against the appointment Panamanian referee Pérez Pineda because Cermeño resides and trains in Panama and Pineda has been referee in four of Cermeño’s fights. Another change was also announced. Judge Raúl Caiz (California) was replaced by Peter Podgorsky (Illinois). The other judges will be Glenn Feldman (Connecticut) and Nelson Vázquez (Puerto Rico). The supervisor of the fight will be the WBA vice president Gilberto Mendoza Jr.
