New opponent for Jorge Arce

Multi-division world champion Jorge “Travieso” Arce (61-7-2, 46 KOs) will now return against Colombian Jose Carmona (22-3, 12 KOs) on Saturday at “The Dome” in San Luis Potosi, Mexico. Arce was originally to face Giovani “Ruso” Caro (24-14-4, 19 KOs), but Caro fell ill yesterday forcing Zanfer Promotions to seek an immediate replacement and Carmona meets the requirements to be a tough test. At 34-years-old, with a successful career of 71 fights over 17 years including 27 world championship fights and winning four world championship belts, plus a WBC interim belt, Arce will resume his boxing career with the firm objective of winning a sixth belt in a sixth different division. In his most recent bout, in December last year, Arce was destroyed by Nonito Donaire after which he announced his retirement. However, Arce returned to the gym feels he is now in great shape and is serious about his comeback.

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
