Middleweights Jessie “The Beast” Nicklow (19-1-2, 7 KOs) and John “No Mercy” Mackey (11-3-2, 5 KOs) battled to an eight round majority draw in the main event on Thursday night at Michael’s Eighth Avenue in Glen Burnie, MD. It was an intriguing tactical matchup as Mackey prevailed 77-75 on one card, while the other two judges saw it even at 76-76.
In the co-feature, middleweight Cecil McCalla remained unbeaten with an impressive sixth round TKO of Jorge Barajas (5-3, 2 KOs). McCalla (9-0, 4 KOs) put Barajas on the canvas three times in all. Time was 1:16. The card was another in the series of collaborative promotions with Ballroom Boxing and TKO Promotions.
In other results, Francisco Contreras (9-0, 9 KOs) TKO’d Gustavo Mejia (3-7-1, 3 KOs) at 1:52 of the first; Julius Kennedy (6-1, 3 KOs) TKO’d Gevonte Davis (3-3-1, 2 KOs) at 2:26 of the second; and Jesus Perez (26-25-3, 14 KOs) won a six-round unanimous decision over Delvin Plascencia (14-1, 5 KOs), with scores of 59-53, 57-56, 57-55.
