WBO minimunweight champion Donnie Nietes and world ranked Z Gorres arrive today in Tepic, Nayarit for Satuday’s “Latin Fury 11” boxing card at the Palenque de la Feria. The championship card is promoted by Top Rank and Promociones Zanfer in association with the Nayarit State Goberment en will telecast on Pay-per-view in the United States. Nietes the WBO’s regular 105-pound champion will take on Manuel “Chango” Vargas of Mexico, who is the interim WBO champion in the same weight class.
There are very good fights on this card, but the Nietes-Vargas showdown might be the best of the them all. Both are world class fighters in every sense of the world and the fans are really looking forward to this fight as much as any of top four fights to be telecast on the pay-per view card.
Z Gorres in his first fight for Top Rank will take on tough guy Cruz Carbajal a former world title challenger. Gorres is looking to make one more run at a world championship and it begins Saturday with this 10 round bout that will open the telecast.
The Nietes-Vargas championship will be the second in the televised portion of the card followed by three-time world champion Fernando Montiel defending his WBO Bantamweight belt against Alejandro Valdez a fight that also has the potential to be the fight of the night.
In the main event, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. takes on Jason LeHoullier of Portland, Maine in a ten round bout.
“I feel great and I want to give the fans the best fight I can. I need to show everyone that I can knockout this time of fighters to I can move on to bigger and better things,” said Chavez, who has gone the distance on his last three fights.
Chavez Jr. is expected to arrive on Tuesday night in Tepic, the final press conference will be Thursday, the weight on Friday and the big show will start on Saturday a 7:00 p.m. local time.
