A source has told Fightnews.com that there’s a possibility that in 2012 there may be no WBA KO Drugs Festival in Panama for the first time since 2007. WBA Executive Vice President Gilberto Jesus Mendoza will take into consideration the weak attendance at recent boxing events and the lack of strong fighters in the country at the moment. According to the source, Mendoza will have private separate meetings this week with local promoter Rogelio Espiño and Sampson Lewcowicz and next week there could be an official statement about WBA featherweight world champion Celestino Caballero in the situation of his mandatory defense against Mikey Garcia.
There is also a possibility that a WBA KO Drugs event could take place in Jamaica with local fighter Nicolas Walters fighting for a WBA interim title.
