Nongqayi vows lesson, beating

Photos by Rafael Soto/Zanfer

IBF super flyweight champion Simphiwe Nongqayi (16-0-1, 6 KOs) arrived from South Africa to Tepic, Nayarit, Mexico to face Juan Alberto “Topo” Rosas (31-5, 25 KOs) this Saturday at the Palenque de la Feria. “I will give a boxing lesson to Rosas in front of his own people, then I’ll give a rematch to Travieso Arce to shut his mouth once again. I already did it to his brother and the same to him. Does he want more? I’ll give you more in a rematch.”

He continued, “I’m not afraid to fight in the House of Rosas. I trust the judges and the referee. I know Rosas is only a stones throw to get everything, I admit that that means a lot, but my goal is to give a lesson and a beating.”

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
