Oquendo-Solis is off!

Cuban Olympic Gold Medalist Odlienier Solis has pulled out of his May 22nd fight against heavyweight contender “Fast Fres” Oquendodue to a training injury. The fight was supposed to take place at the world famous Fountainbleu Resort in Miami Beach, Florida. “I’ve been down here training my a– off for this guy and he chickens out” said Oquendo, who wants Solis to take the fight despite the injury. “I’m the “Cuban Assassin” and he’s the “Cuban Coward” said Oquendo. “I’ll fight him in Cuba if I have to, I just want to fight.” Ahmet Oner, Solis promoter at Arena Boxing says Solis broke his finger sparring and that the fight will be postponed to a later date.

    Help Support Fightnews.com®

For 18 years, Fightnews.com® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
