Orozco-Armenta collide Feb 24

Unbeaten junior welterweight Antonio Orozco will fight Rodolfo Armenta at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas on February 24th, manager Frank Espinoza told Fightnews.com on Wednesday afternoon. Golden Boy Promotions matchmaker Eric Gomez also confirmed on Thursday night that the Orozco-Armenta bout will be part of a “ShoBox: the New Generation” card that will feature unbeaten junior welterweight Jessie Vargas and light middleweight contender Deandre Latimore in separate televised bouts. Orozco, (12-0, 8 KOs) from San Diego, CA, won a one-sided six round unanimous decision over Fernando Gonzalez in his last bout on September 17th. Armenta, (11-5, 9 KOs) who hails from Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico, stopped Pablo Becerra in the fourth round of his last bout in December. Armenta has faced two notable fighters in the past couple of years. He lost a four round majority decision to Omar Chavez in February 2009 and six months later, was stopped by unbeaten lightweight Sharif Bogere in the second round. According to the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino website, tickets to the card are already on sale. Vargas is promoted by Mayweather Promotions.
