From the Poliforum Zamna in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico, three IBA championship titles will be disputed on Saturday night. In the main event, home town favorite light welterweight SIlverio “Chamaco” Ortiz (22-13, 10KOs) will defend his title versus the experienced Efren Hinojosa (30-8-1, 17KOs) of Lakeside, CA, in a twelve round match up. Ortiz captured the vacant title last year by defeating via Fernando Angulo via a unanimous decision. Since then, Ortiz has defended the title once before, stopping Elvin Perez in the second round with a scorching body shot. Hinojosa, who has faced the much better opposition such as Robert Guerrero, John Molina and Miguel Angel Huerta, has disputed for other regional titles before such as the NABF lightweight title and the USBA title.
In the semi main event, super featherweights Jorge “Comino” Perez (12-7-1, 1KOs) and Edgar Riovalle (28-12-1, 19KOs), both of Mexico City, battle it out for the vacant IBA title while Jose “Cacho” Silveira (11-3, 4KOs) of Merida, Yucatan and Los Mochis, MX’s Juan Jose Beltral (24-19-3, 15KOs) go to war for the vacant IBA bantamweight belt.
Four more fights flesh out the card. Supervising all three title fights for the IBA will be Jorge Marron.
The night is presented by Andy Perez’s A & T Promotions and will be broadcast live in Mexico by super channel Televisa.
