Bantamweight Felipe “Gallito” Orucuta (25-1, 21 KOs) scored a tenth round TKO over former world champion Julio Cesar “Pingo” Miranda (37-8-1, KOs) on Saturday night at the Deportivo de los Trabajadores del Metro in Mexico City. The bout was waved off with Miranda under heavy fire. Miranda was originally slated to face Daniel “Bad Boy” Rosas, but the Mexican Commission wouldn’t allow Rosas to fight due to bronchitis. Orucuta, who was appearing in the co-feature stepped in to face Miranda and made the most of it.

In other action, unbeaten flyweight Francisco “Chihuas” Rodriguez (8-0, 6 KOs) survived a third round knockdown to win a split decision against Francisco “Marro” Perez (8-2, 5 KOs).

Also, unbeaten bantamweight Moises “Chucky” Flores (17-0, 12 KOs) scored a third round KO over Oscar “Carinoso” Cardenas (20-3-17 KOs).

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
