Oscar De La Hoya held an international conference call earlier today all in Spanish to address the upcoming world championship fights, Floyd Mayweather vs. Canelo Alvarez and Danny Garcia vs. Lucas Matthysse that will take place on September 14th in Las Vegas. In the beginning of the call De La Hoya stressed that he did not need to add Garcia vs. Matthysse on the card to break any pay-per-view records and that he made the fight simply for the fans.

“THE ONE: Mayweather vs. Canelo” was already sold out in less than an hour and all of the closed circuit seats in Las Vegas were no longer available before Garcia vs. Matthysse was made. When ask about Canelo’s approach against Mayweather De La Hoya said, “Floyd Mayweather Jr. only fights about 40 seconds per round and Canelo Alvarez needs to jump on him and make him fight the entire fight.”

Oscar De la Hoya also commented that Canelo’s Alvarez age (23) will not be a factor against Floyd Mayweather’s experience. De la Hoya was 23 years old himself when he fought Hall of Fame great Julio Cesar Chavez. According to the Golden Boy “THE ONE: Mayweather vs. Canelo” Showtime pay-per-view event will be distributed in over 200 countries and it has a strong possibility to break the all-time pay-per-view record of 2.5 million pay-per-view buys of the fight between himself and Floyd Mayweather Jr.
