Oscar Valdez update

Two-time former Olympian, Oscar Valdez, won his second professional fight last Friday against Corbin Page (4-4-1) at the Texas Station Casino in Las Vegas. “I went into the ring and gave my best. That’s what I always do,” stated Valdez after scoring a second round stoppage over his opponent. “I fight with the heart and spirit of a warrior. That’s the only way I know how to fight.” Valdez’s record now stands at 2-0, 2 KOs. “He’s displaying power, speed and looking sensational. I’m very happy with his progress,” said manager Frank Espinoza who signed 21 year old Valdez out of the Olympics. “He’s been getting a lot of media attention and developing quite a following in the U.S. and Mexico. I’m excited about Oscar’s future.” Valdez, who is promoted by Top Rank, looks to have a very busy 2013 planned. “He’ll fight at least five or six times,” continued Espinoza. “I know it’s early in his career, but I believe Oscar’s the real deal. Watching him develop in the next few years will be something special.”

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
