Ozekler targets Rahimi

“I would even go to Afghanistan to fight him!” says middleweight “Sultan” Gökalp Özekler (14-1, 6 KOs) of Afghan hero Hamid Rahimi (21-1, 10 KOs), who recently got worldwide recognition at his ‘Fight for Peace’ in Kabul. With both boxers fighting out of Hamburg, Germany, the fight would certainly cause a stir among boxing fans. Sultan’s promoter Erol Ceylan stated, “That’s something the fans want to see and I’m sure it would be a great fight….I’m pretty sure Hamid wouldn’t being willing. Gökalp is just too strong for him.” In the meantime WBC Mediterranean beltholder Özekler will be defending March 30th in Montenegro.

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
